After Joint Replacement Surgery
When you return to your hospital room from the recovery room you will continue to be monitored by hospital staff. It is normal to feel some pain and discomfort after surgery. Be sure to inform your nurse of your pain and medication will be given. Your surgeon will visit you to discuss your surgery and progress. Regular medication is given to maintain your level of comfort and allow you to participate in physiotherapy.
Depending on your condition, you will be assisted to sit up, stand up and even walk soon after your surgery. Many surgeons feel early mobilisation helps speed your recovery and prevent complications.
